Here we are getting ready to start our fourth week of school. Isn't amazing how fast time flies by during the school year. We are knee deep in place value and rounding. I've been using guided math in my classroom. I'm still tweaking how it will work, but I hope to have it up and in full swing in the next few weeks.
I've been really working on trying to understand how to make place value as easy as possible for my students. It seems like moving from the units period to the thousands period is like relearning to walk for some of them.
I'm working on a practice page that covers rounding and place value. I will share it when I'm done.
Have a great week!

Communites
A couple of weeks ago, we studied communities. We discussed their importance and the different types of industries that make up our communities. After creating a classroom list, students made a sentence strip community. Then, we made this really cute classroom web and included their sentence strip communities. I think it turned out great!

Getting Started
Well... I finally did it. I started blogging. Earlier this summer I polled my friends, asking them if I should start a blog. They were amazingly supportive of this new endeavor. So here we go.
I'm teaching 3rd grade this year. I taught 3rd grade for a year; taught 1st grade for a year and I'm being promoted back to 3rd grade. I've started setting up my classroom and I will post pictures when I'm all done. Next year, if I get in the swing of blogging, I'll post before and after pictures.
I'm a big fan of Pinterest! Thank you to all the wonderful teachers who are willing to share their ideas with other teachers all over the world.
